View Calendar Profile As a graduate of the University of Illinois Choral Music Department, I am excited to have the opportunity to teach Choir to all the grade levels, sixth grade General Music, and the after school drama, Plank Productions. I am very blessed to be in a district that has a great reputation for music and the arts. While in college, I enjoyed being a part of many performing ensembles including the Varsity Men`s Glee Club, Concert Choir, No Stings Attached, and the Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana (BACH) Chorus. I also directed a children`s choir in a local church for three years. I am lucky enough to be married to my beautiful wife, Cristina. She is an elementary school music teacher in Naperville. My goal for the Choral program at Plank Junior High is to merge my past experiences to develop a standards-based curriculum, which will develop well-rounded musicians. I hope these students will discover a love for music that will stay with them through out their lives. Becoming a music teacher has been my dream since eighth grade, and I am excited to be fulfilling that dream. I want to enrich the students` lives with quality music from around the world, because there is no better place for students to learn about other societies than in music. We talk about how the music was written, who the music is written for, why it is important, and how it relates to the students today. I also teach the students how to read music, solfege (Do, Re, Mi), and music theory.
