Mr. Schneider earned his Master`s Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, Illinois, in 2007, and his Bachelor of Science in Music Education Degree from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA, in 2001. Mr. Schneider currently directs the OHS Wind Symphony, 9th Grade Concert Band, Panther Marching Band, and Jazz Ensemble 1, while assisting with the Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble. He also Co-Directs the Oswego Commuinty Band, the "Prairie Winds." He previously held the position of Assistant Director at Oswego High School, and taught beginning band classes at Traughber Junior High School from 2004-2006. From 2002-2004 he taught band at both Traughber Junior High School and Thompson Junior High School in Oswego. From 2001-2002 he worked as a General Music Teacher in the Fox Chapel Area School District in Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania, and also worked at Trinity High School in Washington, Pennsylvania as the Director of Percussion Studies.
Mr. Schneider was selected to conduct at the National Band Association`s 2008 International Conducting Symposium in Rome, Italy. He was recently selected to participate at the 2008 Leadership Conference for the Illinois Music Educators Association. He is the District IX Band Representative for the Illinois Music Educators Association, and has served as Band Chairperson for the Fox Valley Music Festival. Mr. Schneider directed the District 1 Illinois Music Educators Jazz Ensemble Festival in 2006. He has served as a clinician and band adjudicator for Illinois Grade School Music Association and other festivals in the Chicago area. He is a product consultant for Superscope Technologies in Geneva, IL. He has received the Oswego High School "Influential Educator" award three times, as well as the Daryl Thompson Memorial Scholarship Award. He has been included in Who`s Who in American Education, Who`s Who in America, and Who`s Who in the World. His professional memberships include the Illinois Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, The National Band Association, and The Percussive Arts Society.
As a percussionist, Mr. Schneider is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team, and has played and recorded with numerous ensembles, including the Shawn Maxwell Quartet, which released the CD "Originals" in 2005, and is now available on the Whaling City Record Label. He can be heard on the CD "Cantate Hodie" by the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh. On WFMT - 98.7 FM Radio Network Chicago’s “Live at Studio 1” series, he played with the Artemis Chamber Brass. His collection of educational marching percussion compositions entitled "Turning Drum-set Styles Into Drum-line Grooves!" is published by Advantage Network, Inc. He has played with the Tempus Fugit Percussion Ensemble, The Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and The Pittsburgh Public Theater. Mr. Schneider lives in Oswego with his wife Ashlee, and daughter, Corinne. Mrs. Schneider is a wonderful flutist and pianist. She has a private lesson studio of approximately 30 flute & piano students, and she teaches infant and toddler music classes. The Schneider`s feel lucky to be able to teach and perform music in the Oswego Community!
