Profile

I was born in Smithtown, New York  and spent my grammar school years in both New York and Massachusetts.  I graduated from Fontbonne Academy in Milton, Massachusetts.

I attended University Massachusetts-Dartmouth for one year and transferred to Purdue University when my family moved to the Chicago area.  Upon graduating from Purdue University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, I worked for Northern Illinois Gas (NICOR) for only one year, as I found the work rather boring.  In my pursuit of a more challenging job,  I met the human resources director for Navistar International at a Society of Women Engineers (SWE) professional meeting and landed a new job within a week.  My job at Navistar included project work on the cylinder head and its associated assembly components.  After 4 years, I applied and accepted a job in the Reliability Department where I had the opportunity to investigate failed parts, analyze the failure and revise the design with project engineers.   I loved my job.

When I became a mother, I found a job that I couldn`t resist.!

I returned to school part-time and received my M.A. in Education from Dominican University.  After student teaching I took a part time job teaching mathematics at Waubonsee Community College, where I stayed for 5 years.  I was thrilled to see the job opening at OEHS for a position that would incorporate both my teaching degree and my engineering skills.

I enjoy working and learning with students each day.

Personal

My husband Robert and I have been blessed with 3 wonderful children. Elizabeth is a senior at Marquette High School, Eddie is a sophmore at Marmion Academy and William is in the 7th grade at Holy Angels grade school in Aurora. School year activities include being the biggest fan at my children`s school and sports activities.  Summer activities include gardening, reading (lots!) and spending time with my extended family.  Our family enjoys participating in outdoor adventures- which in the past include camping in the National Parks, white water rafting, hot air balloning, rock climbing, fishing, and downhill skiing.  We have lived in Sandwich for 9 years, prior to that we lived in LaGrange.  Our family also includes 2 rabbits, a multitude of fish, 3 parakeets, 6 cockatiels and a turtle.
