WELCOME  TO  KINDERGARTEN!  A B C   1 2 3  Kindergarten Learning is Fun for YOU and ME!     Mrs. Dawn Gerry Kindergarten Teacher Lakewood Creek Elementary Phone (630) 636-3221 email dgerry0920@oswego.org   MY EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: I have been teaching Kindergarten in the Oswego School District for 32 years and still LOVE KINDERGARTEN!!  (28 years at East View Elementary and 4 years at Lakewood Creek Elementary) I received my Bachelor`s Degree from Western Illinois University in 1974 and my Master`s Degree from Aurora University in 1987.  I have also taken 48 additional class hours beyond my Master`s Degree and numerous in-district classes to help me keep up with the changes and advances in education.    MY FAMILY: I am married to Phil Gerry, who is also an Elementary School teacher at Long Beach School.  (He teaches 2nd Grade!)  My husband and I live in Bristol.  We have two children, who are both married and live in Oswego.  We have 5 grandchildren.     WHAT I LOVE: During the school year I love to cook and spend time with family and friends. I like to read, swim and I LOVE to travel. I enjoy the new style of country music. My husband and I are Jimmy Buffett and Kenny Chesney fans!   MY GOALS: Teaching is such a wonderful career.  I have been very blessed to have been teaching Kindergarten in the Oswego School District for all of these years. I have made many great friendships throughout my career with so many wonderful people.   My goal for each student is to help them achieve success academically in school. Another goal is for each child to develop a "Love of Learning" as they acquire the skills they need to achieve their personal best in school!  Together, with parents, much progress will happen this year!   I am teaching with two outstanding Kindergarten teachers.  We closely work together to help all students acheive the Illinois State Standards.
