Welcome!  My name is Gretchen O`Shea.  This is my first year as a Homestead Husky, but my fifth year working in Oswego 308!  For the past three years, I taught first grade at Fox Chase, and spent one year as a Reading Aide at Lakewood Creek.

Knowing I wanted to be a first grade teacher at an early age, I graduated with my Elementary Education degree from Illinois State University in 2003.  In 2007, I graduated with my Masters Degree in Reading Instruction from Aurora University.

Some of my hobbies include running (I ran the half-marathon last year), cooking, writing, photography, and travel.  I love exploring new cultures and places and documenting my journey along the way through photography.

My favorite aspect of teaching first grade is watching children blossom and grow throughout the year into confident readers.  I am never ceased to be amazed at how much growth occurs during this pivotal year.  Playing a part in this process is a joy!

I feel blessed to be a part of such a vibrant and growing school like Homestead.  I consider teaching your child a huge privilege!
