I am looking forward to a great year in 1st grade! Read on to learn a little more about me.
I am originally from the north side of Chicago. (Go Cubs!) I currently live in Joliet with my dad, sister, and our three dogs: Duffy, Molly, and Tucker. I moved to the Plainfield/Joliet area in 2000. That fall I started teaching at East View Elementary in Oswego. I taught first grade at East View until I transferred to Churchill when it opened. It was so exciting to work in a brand new building. I really enjoy being here!
I decided in 3rd grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I think it might have been because I wanted to have access to lots of stickers because my teacher seemed to have a huge supply! While my love for stickers, stamps, and scented markers continues, what I really love is working with first graders.
Before moving to this area I taught in a Catholic school in Chicago. My first year I taught 2nd grade but moved to first grade the next year. I also taught a 1st/2nd split class.
In 1995 I graduated from Carthage College with a Bachelor`s Degree in Elementary Education. In 2001 I received a Master`s Degree in Reading. When I received my Master`s I was offered a position as a Reading Specialist but I love being in the classroom and can`t imagine doing anything else!
