Profile
Thank you for visiting this site! Perhaps you will find something that will give you or a child an opportunity to learn something new. That is my hope. I also hope that you will email me if you have ideas that will add to my learning, as well.
Let me introduce myself. I was born and grew up on Central Illinois. I was surrounded by a family of educators. Family is an important part of my life. My husband and I have lived in Oswego for the past 12 years, where our three children (now ages 25, 23, and 20) were raised and educated. This is my 12th year teaching at Boulder Hill, and I consider it a great place to learn and spend each day.
I began my career teaching kindergarten and first grade in Southern Illinois. After having three children and moving around to 4 different states (Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana, and Michigan) in ten years, I re-entered the teaching field. While this is my third year at first grade, I have taught kindergarten, second grade, and reading at Boulder Hill.
My undergraduate degree in Elementary Education is from Millikin University in Decatur, IL, and my master`s degree is in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in reading, from University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. I continue to take courses to increase my knowledge and to stay abreast of best practices in education.
While I have been out of the country only once, my family and I have traveled extensively throughout the United States, visiting 46 of the 48 contiguious states. Beyond travel, I enjoy reading, camping, music, dogs, and people. If you are the parent of one of my students, please know that relationship building and communication are crucial to your child`s learning. I look forward to getting to know you and your child!
