Johnson received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois in English and Spanish, as well as her Master of Science  and C.A.S. from Northern Illinois University in secondary education.  She lives in Maple Park with her husband Paul and her son Parker, an NIU graduate who is the new Family and Youth Director at the YMCA in Dekalb.  Her son Hayden is currently a freshman majoring in aviation at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. Mrs. Johnson enjoys reading, watching her sons at all their athletic events, and spoiling their pug, Tripper.
