Mrs. Lisa Heemstra Bednarcik Junior High School Band Director Email:  LHeemstra0215@oswego308.org 630-636-2521         Junior High Class Schedule   Period Class Time 1 6th Grade Percussion - Nancy Botti 8:00 - 8:55 2 6th Grade Woodwind - Nancy Botti & Lisa Heemstra 8:59 - 9:40 3 6th Grade Brass - Heemstra 9:44 - 10:25 4 7th Grade Concert Band - Heemstra 10:29 - 11:10 5 7th Grade Sectionals - Heemstra 11:14 - 11:55 6 6th Grade Full Band - Heemstra 11:59 - 12:40 7 8th Grade Sectionals - Heemstra 12:44 - 1:25 8 8th Grade Symphonic Band - Heemstra 1:29 - 2:10 9 Prep 2:14 - 3:00   Mrs. Lisa Heemtra is the Band Director at Bednarcik Junior High School where she instructs the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Beginning Band and Jazz Band.  Mrs. Heemstra has been at Bednarcik Junior High School since the doors opened in the fall of 2002.  Prior to teaching at Bednarcik, Mrs. Heemstra was the assistant band director at Oswego High School from 2000-2001 and the assistant band director at Thompson Junior High School 2001-2002.  This will be her tenth year in the Oswego School District.   Mrs. Heemstra is a native of Lansing, IL and received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois and her Masters in Music Education Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.  She was awarded the "Distinguished Alumni Award" from VanderCook in 2000.   Along with her academic endeavors, Mrs. Heemstra has performed duties for organizations including Bands of America, Illinois Music Educators Association and Midwest International Band & Orchestra Conference. She is a member of The National Association for Music Education, The National Band Association, VanderCook College of Music Alumni Association and Illinois Music Educators Association.  She is also the recipient of the "Outstanding Private Teacher of the Year Award"-1999 from Memorial Junior High School, Lansing, Illinois.  Mrs. Heemstra lives in Plainfield with her husband Chris, daughter Isabella and Westie, Minnie.  They also opened a Jimmy John`s Gourmet Sandwich Shop in Shorewood, Illinois in 2007.
